I am a professional musician. I did my graduate work at one of the foremost music institutions in the United States. I have no credentials as a computer geek, save a lifetime of using computers, devices, and gadgets—trying to squeeze out of them every conceivable last drop of practicality and, let’s face it—impracticality. I know just enough to be dangerous; sometimes more, sometimes less. People think I know stuff. I may know more about some of this stuff than they do, but I really know nothing. The more I learn the more I realize just how limited and sorely lacking my knowledge is. It’s humbling.

I created this site to help me remember stuff I’ve done, and perhaps help someone else out who’s looking to do something similar. I’m not looking for money, likes, or negativity, for that matter (if that’s how you (t)roll). I don’t link to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or anything else. I’m not trying to build a brand, or a presence. I don’t care how many hits my articles get. I don’t advertise products, and I don’t get any kickbacks. I only use software and products I like, and I bought them all myself. You may think I’m nuts, but I call it “considerate.”

I’m an unashamed Mac and iOS user, but I use Linux, too. By design, I use Microsoft Windows almost as infrequently as I use Times New Roman (I never use Times New Roman).

I try to give credit where credit is due … I get ideas from all over the web and from podcasts. Sometimes I don’t remember from whence I gleaned some info, but I do endeavor to acknowledge all that I can whenever possible. I regret I didn’t keep better track. But then, I never dreamed I would make a blog about automation!

I hope you find something useful on this site. But, if not, I hope you’ll think about some repetitive thing you do that you could automate. It’s really fun to watch the computer/device do your work for you. I highly recommend it. I hope that something here may inspire you, or just be fun to read about. ◼︎
